SAKK at the Race for Life

On 3 September 2017 the SAKK will be taking part in the Race for Life on the Bundesplatz in Bern for the second time.

The next Race for Life will take place on 3 September 2017 on the Bundesplatz in Bern. The Race for Life is a charity bike marathon and a solidarity festival for the benefit of cancer sufferers in Switzerland. There are now three rounds to choose from instead of just two. The additional round was designed especially for racing cyclists and takes participants up into the Längenberg mountain range. But you don’t have to be a racing cyclist to take part – anyone and everyone is welcome and they can choose their own individual route depending on what they feel like doing and their level of fitness. So it doesn't matter whether you're a beginner, an aspiring cyclist or a pro – you can ride at your own pace for as long as you like, with as many breaks as you like, and e-bikes are welcome too.

The route from Bern to the Gurten and up to Längenberg is a unique ride through the mountains and valleys, and it also symbolises the highs and lows that cancer patients and their relatives go through during cancer therapy. In addition to the charity bike marathon there will also be a solidarity festival on the Bundesplatz. Concerts will provide for entertainment and Race for Life partner organisations will be giving information on various topics related to cancer. The donations received will go to the following partner organisations: Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK), European Thoracic Oncology Platform (ETOP), International Breast Cancer Study Group (IBCSG), Childhood Cancer Switzerland, Swiss Cancer Research Foundation, Swiss Cancer League, Lungenliga Schweiz, Swiss Cancer Foundation.
