July 14 The trial SAKK 24/09: Safety and tolerability of bevacizumab plus paclitaxel vs. bevacizumab plus metronomic cyclophosphamide and capecitabine as first-line therapy in patients with HER2-negative metastatic or locally recurrent breast cancer. A multicenter, randomized phase III trial was activated and is now open for accrual in Basel and the Ticino.
June 6 Researchers of the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK), the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and of the Swiss Institute for Bioinformatics (SIB) have investigated molecular markers and other indicators that may help doctors in the future to treat colon cancer patients better following a relapse.
February 23 The Trial SAKK 77/09 and SASL30: A phase I open label/phase II randomized, double-blind, multicenter trial investigating the combination of everolimus and TransArterial ChemoEmbolisation (TACE) with doxorubicin in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma is open for accrual at the Inselspital Bern.
February 18 SAKK in favor of rules on research involving human subjects.
February 8 SAKK activated trial SAKK 15/08: Carboplatin and Paclitaxel plus ASA404 as first line chemotherapy for extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC): A phase II trial as of February 8. The trial is now open for accrual at the first center St.Gallen.
January 12 SAKK activated trial STAMPEDE Systemic Therapy in Advancing or Metastatic Prostate Cancer: Evaluation of Drug Efficacy A 5-stage multi-arm randomised controlled trial as of January 11. The trial is opened for accrual at the first centers: Bern and Chur.
