The SAKK statistical services have successfully supported various clients’ projects in areas such as radiotherapy, palliative care, surgical treatment, quality of life, translational research and pre-clinical experiments. As cited by Shaw (2001), statistics is a body of methods for making wise decisions in the face of uncertainty. The objective of statistical analysis is to discover what conclusions can be drawn from data and to present these conclusions in as simple and lucid a form as is consistent with accuracy. Hence, statistics is important from trial planning to results reporting. The SAKK Statistics Unit offers a broad spectrum of experience from academics to industry, from small-scale phase-I through to large-scale phase-III studies.
