The SAKK Patient Advisory Board has fortunately grown by one new member. We would like to welcome Tourane Corbiere and wish her much joy and success in her new position.
The Patient Advisory Board was founded in November 2015 in order to better understand the experiences and needs of cancer patients and their relatives, and to incorporate these needs in our research proposals.
Tourane Corbiere: "Several years of research and teaching at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) and the University of Lausanne (UNIL) have helped me to acquire a thorough understanding of scientific standards, research approaches and the importance of communicating and popularizing scientific information. Diagnosed with cancer in 2014, I have come to realize just how essential clinical research is, and I have appreciated the need for greater collaboration between researchers and patients. Since then I have participated in many projects in the pharmaceutical industry and at the hospital as a partner patient. I also run a support group in Geneva for patients and their families.
Contributing to the SAKK Patient Advisory Board enables me to share my experiences of this disease, and I hope that I can help to improve the care that cancer patients receive."
