The SAKK Patient Advisory Board has fortunately grown by one new member. We would like to welcome Aldo Fiscalini and wish him much joy and success in her new position.
The Patient Advisory Board was founded in November 2015 in order to better understand the experiences and needs of cancer patients and their relatives, and to incorporate these needs in our research proposals.
Mr. Aldo Fiscalini: "I was diagnosed with prostate cancer around 15 years ago. I had an operation, but it was unfortunately not possible to remove all of the cancer, and I was only expected to live for another four or five years. Thanks to my highly experienced oncologists, who have been supporting me for more than 12 years with their professional and caring manner, I decided to try a new anti-hormonal therapy. This new treatment considerably improved not only my health, but also my wellbeing. A large part of this progress is down to a good, trusting doctor-patient relationship.
I realized how important it is for as many patients as possible to have access to new, promising treatments. I’ve been a member of several self-help groups for many years, and am happy to share my experience of cancer with other patients. I am pleased to now be part of the SAKK Patient Advisory Board and to help improve the care provided to cancer patients."
