This year marks a significant milestone for SAKK as we celebrate our 60th anniversary. What began as a small group of passionate oncologists has evolved into Switzerland's leading national academic research network in clinical cancer research. Today, SAKK connects all university hospitals and major cantonal and regional hospitals across the country, playing a crucial role in advancing cancer treatment.

Our strength lies in the diversity and expertise of our 20 specialized research groups, which focus on the medical needs of cancer patients. All studies supported by SAKK are initially proposed and validated by these research groups, consisting of specialists actively treating patients in Swiss hospitals. Through this commitment, we achieve rapid application of research findings in practice, improving patient care.

Over the years, SAKK has established itself as a trusted partner for international academic research institutions. This anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate the collaborations that make our work possible. We thank our international and industrial partners, research institutions, funding organizations such as Cancer Research Switzerland, Swiss hospitals, health insurers, and the many others who have contributed to our success.

A special thanks goes to the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SBFI), whose support has been invaluable for over five decades.

We look forward to celebrating this milestone throughout the year with our partners and the broader community.
