The aim of the SAKK is to improve cancer treatment for the Swiss population. Since 1965, we have been the national network for clinical cancer research and the primary point of contact for authorities, associations and pharmaceutical companies in Switzerland. Around 70 employees work in the Bern competence center of our non-profit organization together with a network of all important oncology clinics.

Your tasks:

As CFO, you report directly to the CEO and are responsible for SAKK's financial strategy and planning. Your core tasks include:

  • You manage the finance department and lead a team of several employees.
  • You are responsible for financial planning, controlling, risk management and budgeting. You monitor and optimize liquidity planning.
  • You take into account the long-term nature of SAKK's core business by managing and further developing SAKK's multi-year planning and reporting tool.
  • Preparation and monitoring of financial statements (monthly and annually) according to Swiss Code of Obligations on Abacus
  • They support SAKK in developing new sources of financing (fundraising, family offices, etc.)
  • As CFO, you will be involved in a wide range of financial issues at SAKK (investment strategy, fundraising, employee benefits, auditing and annual financial statements, presentation to AGM, etc.) and, as part of the management team, you will bear significant responsibility for the overall success of SAKK
  • You work with internal and external partners such as the board, authorities and public/private donors.
  • You are jointly responsible for the further development of SAKK and motivated to make a significant contribution to the future success of SAKK

What you bring:

  • University degree in business administration or comparable qualification
  • Management experience at executive level with entrepreneurial thinking and action, ideally as CFO in an SME (NPO or NGO experience is an advantage)
  • Extensive experience and expertise in the areas of financial and operational accounting, business accounting, controlling, liquidity planning, VAT, international financial transactions, treasury, fundraising, etc.
  • A team player and winning personality with strong service, social and communication skills
  • Innovative, pragmatic personality with a lot of drive, hands-on mentality and implementation skills
  • Knowledge of Abacus desirable
  • Good knowledge of German and English (French is an advantage)
